Get set to explore the magic of your imaginations through a wide range of mediums and activities! Our dreams and imaginations will be the inspiration to explore a variety of styles and mediums. Activities will include ceramics, printmaking, drawing, painting and sculpture. Each camp is one week long.
Camp I and II will be held in the upper level studios of the museum. Camp will begin at 9:00 a.m. with creative art activities. We will break from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for an outdoor lunch. Afternoon art sessions will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. An exhibition of camper's artworks will be held each Friday of the session from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Regional Museum. Parents are encouraged to attend.
The SBRMA's Summer Art Camp is open to children ages 8 to 12 (children must be 8 years old by June 1, 2008). Summer Art Camp staff consists of certified art/elementary teachers, museum staff and visiting artists. Campers will have opportunities for both individual and group creative projects. Campers must bring a bag lunch. Drinks and snacks will be provided. A closely supervised field trip may be taken, weather permitting, to the Northern Indiana Center for History, Potawatomi Zoo or other area cultural institutions. Each parent will be notified before any field trip.
A faculty/student ratio of one to 12 will be maintained with a maximum enrollment of 36 campers accepted per session. Both sessions are guaranteed to run and will not be canceled. To accommodate working parents, we offer a childcare service from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a small fee. Summer Camp faculty will supervise activities.The SBRMA assumes no responsibility for accident or illness.

Day Classes
Experience Art With Your Children! (ages 2 - 6)

Designed with the family in mind to experience a variety of art materials and learn more about the art process. Two activity areas will be set up for different age groups. Parents are encouraged to interact and explore with their children. Class is limited to ten children.

Ceramics (ages 8 - 14)

Sessions: I, II
This class is designed for young people and encourages creativity in all projects. Students will learn hand building
techniques and how to use the potter's wheel as they work at their own speed. Clay, glazes and firing are included in the lab fee. Each class will meet Monday through Wednesday, will have Thursday off to allow for the clay to dry, and then meet again on Friday for glazing. Work will be available for pick up after glaze firing the following Friday.
Junior Creative Drawing (ages 9 - 13)

Session: I only
Learn new techniques to express yourself. DRAW BIG! You will learn how line, value, color, rhythm, texture and perspective create many different compositions. You will draw from a single object, still life, model, landscape, and your imagination using markers, oil pastels, chalk, charcoal and paint.
Painting (ages 10 - 16)

Session: II only
Have fun with paint! This week long workshop will explore watercolor and acrylic painting. Students will learn the techniques and tools to use watercolor on paper and acrylic paint on a stretched canvas. All levels welcomed. Creativity and individual expression will be stressed.
Animation Creation! (ages 8 - 14)

1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Session: II only
Characters, stories, goblins, aliens, villains, and of course good guys will all be created through animation! Students will receive an introduction to animation and learn how to create their own characters. All levels welcome.
Explore the Arts: Express Train (ages 6 - 8)

Are you looking for a taste of everything? Enjoy a week of clay, painting, drawing, and short stories. Each day will bring something different! Jump on the train and enjoy a variety of projects! Class will take breaks for snacks and visits to the Galleries.
ADULT SUMMER CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
Adult classes begin the week of June 16, 2008 and meet once or twice a week for 5 weeks. Summer classes end on Saturday, July 19, 2008. Class fees are applied to studio and equipment costs. Students may be required to purchase additional individual art materials. Classes with insufficient enrollment will be canceled. See "How To Register" for registration information and form. Photography

This class guides students through the use of black and white photography; via lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experience with 35MM film camera basics, black and white film processing, and darkroom printmaking. No experience is necessary. Students work at their own speed and may focus on specific photographic interests. Returning students will be able to work on advanced level special projects such as studio lighting, large format photography, or advanced printmaking. Additional per print fees apply for digital inkjet printing. Class fee includes development materials.
Basic Pottery and Beyond

Both beginning and intermediate students are welcome to this class of clay exploration. Beginning students will learn basic ceramic skills, such as hand building techniques, mastering throwing on the wheel, and as decoration and glazing techniques. Intermediate students will be encouraged to experiment and challenge themselves in order to create scintillating ceramic works. Class fee includes glaze and
firings in keeping with average student production. Students generating work in great excess of the average may be subject to an additional firing fee.
Jewelry: Pendants, Earrings, and Beginning Enameling

Discover the possibilities of jewelry making or enhance
existing skills. All levels are welcomed in this class as
students explore the art of creating your own pendants, earrings, and other items. Students will also enjoy the
instant color gratification of enameling. Enrollment is
limited to 10. Class fee includes fuel for torches, solder, flux, and pickling. Metal is additional.
Raku Fired Thursdays Pottery

Come explore the exciting world of Raku firing during this 5 week class. We will make work on the wheel and use hand building techniques to create pieces the first three weeks. The last two weeks we will glaze work and fire the kiln. Advanced students are welcome to sign up for this class and work independently in the studio during class time. Beginners are always welcomed. The gas kiln will also be fired several times during this class session so glazing and firing functional ware is also an option.
**Raku fired vessels are not food safe or water tight. They are only for decorative purposes.
Beginning Oil Painting

Relax and enjoy the summer with painting! Designed to fit your needs and expectations of "how to paint" as well as understanding what you bring to painting. Explore color and paint application and how it relates to realism, perception and emotion. Technical aspects of color, pattern, texture, composition, line, weight, and depth will be covered. Advanced students are always welcomed. Class fee includes solvent and solvent disposal/recycling.
Watercolor Workshop

Jumpstart Landscapes Workshop

For beginning and intermediate pastel painters, this workshop will review the basics of color and composition and talk about ways to get started. Canson Mi-Tientes paper and basic pastel sets will be provided for those who have not used pastel before. Lunch will be brown bag or fast food. Cathy McCormick is founder of the Northern Indiana Pastel Society. Workshops needs minimum of 6 to run.
Tonal Approach to Landscapes in Pastel Workshop

Feeling bogged down by details? Seeking to simplify your compositions? Follow in the footsteps of Tonalists such as Whistler and Innes as well as some current artists, whom we will study. This workshop will demonstrate the importance of establishing and locking in simple shapes, forms, and color relationships as the basis for a solid foundation without getting too detailed too early. The class will work from slides, photos and sketches. Workshops needs minimum of 6 to run.
